Emergency Management

Mission Statement

The City of Lynn’s Office of Emergency Management provides leadership and support to help reduce the loss of life and property damage through an all-hazards emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The Office of Emergency Management works closely with the Office of Mayor Nicholson and other City departments, including Lynn Fire, Police, Public Health, Department of Public Works, Water and Sewer, Parking, Inspectional Services, and the School administration. In addition, the Office of Emergency Management also partners with non-profits and volunteer organizations such as the American Red Cross, and Salvation Army.

Our mission is to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all natural and man-made emergencies as quickly as possible. For emergencies that exceed the scope and resources of Lynn’s capabilities, there are additional resources from the state’s (MEMA) Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and if additional assistance is still required, the federal government’s (FEMA) Federal Emergency Management Agency will assist.
