$63,537.96, base salary
$69.891.76 (Associate’s Degree—Base + 10%)
$76,245.56 (Bachelor’s Degree—Base + 20%)
$79,422.45 (Master’s Degree---Base + 25%)
(Salary determined by educational attainment per collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME Local 3147)
Duties:
The Field Appraiser shall be responsible for the inspection of all real property in the City, as directed by the Director of Assessing. The duties shall include:
• Field inspection of both interiors and exteriors of all types of real property in Lynn
• Updating of real property records, including property data, building sketches and photographs
• Performing general review and oversight of the work product of support outside contractors hired by the department to perform inspections in Lynn, and reporting his observations to the director.
• Reviewing and inspecting all properties subject to building permits and collects data to determine proper grading and the estimated property condition
The Field Appraiser shall also be responsible for general office duties such as providing customer service to taxpayers and assisting the administrative staff with excise abatements, managing ownership records and handling various records and filings.
Requirements:
A basic knowledge of the Massachusetts General Laws as they pertain to the assessment of property values; basic knowledge and understanding of real property records; the ability to respectfully interact with the general public in addressing their business with the department; a valid driver’s license; the ability to thoroughly inspect both the interior and exterior of all types of real property. Must have general building and construction knowledge. Appraisal and real estate experience preferred. Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Word, and Access.
