Lynn Harbor Park

About

Lynn Harbor Park is a public open space located on the Lynn Harborfront totaling over 30 acres of passive and active open space to the Lynn community. The first phase of Harbor Park opens on July 21st, 2025 and features nearly two miles of walking paths and trails that take you around and through the site, offering a peaceful place to move, reflect, and take in views of the harbor. There’s also a new recreational area with a basketball court, pickleball courts, and an outdoor amphitheater with seating for up to 150 people, perfect for performances, celebrations, or a night of live music with the harbor as your backdrop.

Creation of the Harbor Park is the result of a lot of planning and engagement with the Lynn community. The City adopted the Lynn Waterfront Open Space Master plan in 2018. This planning effort was informed by robust public input, providing a vision for a redeveloped waterfront that features a network of open space and green corridors, providing access to the Lynn Harbor and serving a range of open space and recreational amenities to all Lynners. The Harbor Park was envisioned as the signature waterfront park that serves as a cornerstone of the open space network and premier park destination on the waterfront.

Construction of the first phase the project is a unique public/ private partnership (PPP) between the City of Lynn, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA), MassDevelopment, Charter Environmental, and AW Perry. The first phase of the project includes redevelopment of the former municipal landfill to repair a failed cap and repurpose it into a public park. Future phases will seek to provide additional recreational amenities, welcome center, and restored shoreline with additional walking paths, passive and active recreational areas.
