$115,000-$125,000 plus benefits
Overview:
The City of Lynn seeks a dynamic, skilled, and community centered human services leader to serve as our Director of Elder Services guiding the continued growth of Lynn’s Senior Center. The Senior Center is in its fourth year of operation and has recently expanded to a second floor. As Director of Elder Services, you’ll be a hands-on, people-first manager overseeing a dedicated team of seven full-time employees. Together, this team will continue to support Lynn’s thriving senior community—residents who come to the center to learn new skills, build connections, share life experiences, and enjoy an ever-expanding array of programs and activities.
This leadership role is part of the Public Health Division of the Inspectional Services Dept. and reports directly to the Director of Public Health, while also providing regular reports to the Lynn Council on Aging.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications:
• Provides strategic leadership and day to day oversight of Senior Center staff in the development and delivery of high quality programs and services that engage the Center’s participants
• Engages closely with Senior Center participants.
• Understands the cultural complexities of the population served at the center and seeks to build cross-cultural connections among participants.
• Collaborates closely with the Public Health Division and the Inspectional Services to ensure effective facility and vehicle maintenance and full compliance with all relevant state regulations and safety standards.
• Develops, manages, and monitors the Senior Center budget, including identifying, applying for, and administering a variety of local, state, and federal grants.
• Prepares and presents regular reports to the Mayor, Public Health Director, and the Council on Aging that highlight the Center’s progress, service metrics, grant opportunities, and areas for continued growth and enhancement.
• Ensures full adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal guidelines governing elder services.
• Cultivates and maintains strong partnerships within the regional elder services network, including the COA and community partners such as GLSS, Element Care, Lynn Community Health Center, and the Lynn Housing Authority.
• Engages in ongoing professional development, participating in trainings and continuing education opportunities to support best practices in serving and promoting the wellness of Lynn’s 60+ population.
• Identifies and prioritizes community needs by actively gathering input from Senior Center participants, staff, COA board members, city departments, and human services organizations serving older adults.
• Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers, and oversees onboarding and continuing education for new Senior Center staff.
• Proactively researches and pursues funding opportunities, including state and federal grants that enhance elder services and expand Senior Center programming.
• Works occasional evening and weekend hours as required to support programs, events, and Center operations.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Public Health.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related discipline and/or five+ years of progressive leadership experience in the Elder Services field strongly preferred.
