Community Compost Pilot Program

The City of Lynn, in partnership with Bigbelly and Black Earth Compost, is thrilled to announce the Lynn Community Compost Pilot Program. This program offers residents a simple and effective way to divert food waste from their standard trash barrels.

There are currently two community compost bins for residents to dispose of food waste.

  • Department of Public Works, 250 Commercial Street
  • Manning Field (Ford Street entrance side)

How to Use:

  • Access the locked bins with the Bigbelly Smart Compost Mobile App (bins are Bluetooth-operated)
  • All food waste is accepted, including meat, bones, dairy, and fish
  • Paper products are also accepted
  • Do not place any pet waste or plastic into the bins

Residents are encouraged to close bins after each use to prevent contamination and to ensure our compost bins are kept clean.
