Overview:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the City of Lynn seeks an experienced, disciplined, results-oriented director to oversee its fleet of municipal vehicles. This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the city’s fleet and providing strategic guidance to those performing vehicle maintenance for city agencies including DPW, Police, Fire, and external vendors and advising the CFO on budgetary considerations related to fleet maintenance. The position is also responsible for fleet performance and efficiency, as well as ensuring timely maintenance, repair, and safety regulations compliance. The successful candidate will be a strong leader and skilled communicator with fleet management experience.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Ensuring all fleet operations are performed in accordance with safety and performance requirements.
• Inspecting fleet operations and maintenance processes to ensure proper adherence to regulations and best practices.
• Communicating project and maintenance details to relevant stakeholders before and during execution.
• Review and approve contractor insurance and bonding documents.
• Maintain and organize the City’s fleet records and maintenance inventory.
• Develop program/project budgets, schedules, work plans, labor utilization, and cost estimates for fleet operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO and Mayor.

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, stakeholders, and vendors.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and stay within budget while managing fleet operations.
• Ability to work outdoors, in an office environment, and in the garage setting.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of fleet management practices, construction methods, and project management principles.
• Strong record-keeping and report preparation skills.
• Excellent communication skills in written, verbal, and electronic formats.
Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, CDL license a plus.
