18 hours per week - Set at discretion of the Chief Fire Inspector
Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
Under the direct supervision of the Fire Chief, Deputy and Chief Inspector of the Fire Department, duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform routine clerical duties, receive telephone calls, register and verify appointments, obtain provide routine information to the public, process billing, handle all correspondence.
- Open and sort mail (including email) and other office material prepare and distribute such material as bulletins, pamphlets, memos, claim notices, application forms.
- Order and maintain supplies and equipment.
- Index, file, maintain and research records.
- Assist fire inspectors with correspondence, violations, information, and public relations.
- Interact with various Local, State, and Federal agencies in matters relating to the Fire Prevention Office.
- Enter and maintain roll call records.
- Assist Fire Prevention Inspectors as necessary in all Fire Prevention Education activities.
Qualifications
- Experience in clerical work including record keeping, scheduling, billing, and experience and skills related to operating a small business office with minimum supervision.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word Processing, Access Database, Excel Spreadsheet, Publisher Desktop Publishing and Power Point Presentation.
- Superior written and verbal skills that demonstrate an ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with others.
- High School Diploma required, Associates Degree or higher preferred.
- Bilingual/bicultural candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
