Overview The City of Lynn seeks a thoughtful, conscientious, person-centered professional to serve as part of the team in our Personnel Department. The Human Resources Associate will be the primary point of contact for visitors to the office, assist in the general operation of the department including record maintenance, payroll tracking, and Accounts Payable coordination, and support the growth of employee orientation and continuing education programs.
Duties, but are not limited to:
  • Assists and advises payroll clerks and City personnel with questions relative to deductions and personnel record keeping.    
  • Carries out bill payment and supply procurement, under the supervision of the Personnel Director and Administrative Assistant.
  • Assists and processes CORI’s, tracks, maintains and records results.
  • Coordinates with departments regarding the accuracy of payroll codes and personnel records.
  • Assists with the scheduling of pre-employment protocols including physicals, etc.
  • Duties include preparing the new employee packages, confirming receipt of pre-employment documents and certifying Federal Form I-9.
  • Responsible for accurate processing of new employee packages for seasonal summer employees, including receipt of required documentation, confirming accuracy of information submitted. 
  • Processes and files confidential records, both in hard copy and through the City’s MUNIS system.
  • Answers telephone, provides customer service, processes employee verifications of employment, etc. Cross-trained in all departmental tasks. 
  • Assists the Personnel Director and Administrative Assistant with maintaining the office Outlook calendar, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Coursework in business management, human resources administration, or relevant field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant human resources experience in a municipal/government setting preferred.  
  • Any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, strongly preferred.  
  • Experience with MUNIS software a plus.

    *City residency required within six months of hire.
