SUPERINTENDENT MEET AND GREET SESSIONS
There will be public “meet and greet sessions” for the three finalists for the positon of Superintendent of the Lynn Public Schools this week.

These sessions will give the public the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the three finalists prior to the interviews. All sessions are scheduled at Marshall Middle School located at 100 Brookline Street, in the library.

Bob Buontempo, Lynn Vocational Technical Institute Principal
Bob received his undergraduate degree from Bentley College and his M.A. from Cambridge University.  Bob began his career at LVTI in 1987 as an Auto Collision Repair Instructor and in 2005 he became the department head for multiple technical programs at the school.   In 2010 he was named LVTI Assistant Principal and in 2015 became Principal. 

Meghan Collins, Director of Campfire Daily Operations
Meghan is currently the Director of Operations for Camp Fire North Shore. Before moving back to Lynn a year ago, she worked for the NYC Department of Education under both Mayor Bloomberg and Mayor DeBlasio, and during several Chancellor transitions.  She is the mother a kindergartener at Lynn Woods School and the Camp Fire after school program at Shoemaker.

Donna Coppola, Lynn School Committee Vice Chair
Donna is serving her 10th consecutive term on the school committee.  She has an undergraduate degree from UMass Boston and is retired from a long career at AT&T.  Donna served 18 years with the Commonwealth of Mass. She is presently employed by JOI Childcare center where case manages a teen parent program.  Donna is a mother of 4 children, all graduate of Lynn Classical High.

Miki Divirgilio, Special Education Program Specialist
Miki has worked for more than twenty years in Lynn Public Schools, primarily in the COACh program at Shoemaker, Pickering and Classical High School. Specializing in autism, classroom management, and behavior analysis, Miki is deeply experienced in developing effective special education programming and in working directly with special needs students and their parents.  She is well versed in the special education process, rules, and guidelines and has a great rapport with parents, advocates, teachers, and administrators.  Miki has a bachelor and master’s degrees in education and has been a Lynn resident for over twenty years.

John E. Ford, Lynn School Committee Member
John is serving his 9th consecutive term on the school committee.  He has a M.A. in Education, and 30 years of business management with the General Electric.  He served in the Massachusetts State House for 7 years under Representatives Steve Walsh and Brendan Crighton and his 4 daughters all graduated from Lynn Pubic Schools.

Anthony Frye, Washington Elementary Principal
Anthony has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Adams State College and a M.A. in Educational Administration with a concentration in Grades Pre- K to 6 from Cambridge College.   He is licensed as an elementary principal and a teacher from grades Pre-K through 3. He also holds the Structured English Immersion endorsement as required by ESE.  He is the current principal of the Washington Elementary School and has worked in the Lynn Public Schools for the past eighteen years.   He has taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, first grade English Language Learners, and elementary reading. Prior to becoming Principal of Washington Elementary he was the Program Specialist at Ingalls Elementary.   He is a resident of Lynn, is married and has two daughters.

Mark Johnston, Math Department Chair at Lynn Classical High School
Mark holds degrees in chemistry, mathematics education, educational leadership and an earned doctorate in education with a focus on Leadership in Urban Schools from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.  Mark has been an educator in Lynn for over 20 years and has over 10 years of experience as an appointed member of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education advisory committee. He holds administrative licenses as a supervisor, vice principal/principal, deputy superintendent and superintendent. He was the Lynn science department chair for 4 years and has spent the last 7 years as the Mathematics and Applied Technology Department Chair at Lynn Classical High School.   Mark is a graduate of Lynn Public Schools and a parent of four children who attended Lynn Public Schools

Jen Lang, Parent
Jen has an undergraduate degree in elementary education from Gordon College. She was a former school teacher in Burlington and has been a children’s pastor in Lynnfield and in Lynn.  She and her husband are the founding pastors of East Coast International Church which opened its Lynn doors in April 2001.  Jen is the parent of two Lynn Public School students; one is an honors student at Lynn Classical High School and the other is in a program at Callaghan Elementary for students with special needs.  She has been a resident of Lynn for 20 years. 

Tom McGee, Mayor
Tom has an undergraduate degree from UMass Lowell and a J.D. from New England School of Law.  He served as an Assistant District Attorney for Essex County and in 1994 was elected to the House of Representatives where he served four terms before his election to the State Senate in 2002.  For 23 years he committed himself to issues of quality education and extended learning opportunities to students in the Commonwealth, serving as the Chair of the Afterschool and Out of School time committee.  He has spent decades advocating for equity and opportunity for the public school system, improving the lives of children and their families, ensuring accessible and affordable childcare and healthcare for working families, and expanding workforce training and development.  He was elected Mayor of Lynn in November 2017 and he is a life-long resident of Lynn where he lives with his wife, Maria, and their children, Thomas and Katherine.

Peter McGinn, Lynn Resident
Peter has Ed.D., in Administration & Supervision and a M.A. in Counseling.  He has worked in Massachusetts public schools throughout his career.  He has been a special educator/administrator and an assistant superintendent for two high performing PreK-12 districts.  He currently performs independent contracted evaluation work for DESE and he is an evaluation assistant for Sun Associates which evaluates the implementation of federally awarded funds.  

Sheila O’Neil, Lynn Teachers Union 1037 President
Sheila holds an undergraduate degree from Salem State University and a M.A. in education from American International College.  She has been a Lynn Public Schools elementary teacher since 1993.  She is the President of the Lynn Teachers Union and the Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts.  Sheila is a resident of Lynn and a parent of two Lynn public school graduates. 

Magalie Rowe, Breed Middle School teacher
Magalie has a Master of Science, Master Teaching Spanish, Master Theology and Ministry, Master Public Policy and Doctoral studies in Community Economic Development.   She has worked in the education field for over 20 years as a college professor (BC & UNH) and a public school teacher in middle school and high school.  She is the founder and executive director of Latina Center "MARIA", a nonprofit organization that empowers Latina women and young Latina through education. They offer Parenting workshops, and organizing College Fair for Students and Parents. She has been with the Lynn Public Schools for 2 years and teaches Spanish and ESOL.
