Community Gardens in the City of Lynn

Community gardens are cultivated and maintained spaces where members grow fresh, healthy produce for themselves, their families, and hunger relief organizations. The City of Lynn encourages residents to establish, manage and maintain their own community garden sites on city-owned parks.

Are you interested in joining or starting a community garden? Below are instructions and steps to join an existing garden or start a new community garden in a Lynn park.

RCAM
Thanks to RCAM for our community garden photo.

How do I join an existing garden?

  1. Read the Community Garden Manual
  2. Submit the Gardener Application - 2022

Applications are accepted year-round. Each garden is managed by one or more volunteer community garden coordinators who assign plots, help solve problems within the garden, and provide information and advice to those who want it. Gardeners are charged a nominal annual fee and asked to sign a letter of agreement recognizing the City’s rights and the gardener's responsibilities.

Gannon Golf Course

Located on the outskirts of the Lynn Woods Reservation, Gannon Municipal Golf Course is an 18-Hole Championship design by famed Donald Ross disciple Wayne Stiles. Gannon is owned by the City of Lynn, Park Commission Board and operated by Golf Facilities Management Inc.

Established in 1931, it has been providing the North Shore with outstanding conditions and a challenging yet fair layout for over 80 years. Gannon offers opportunities for every golf need: Seasonal Memberships, Daily Fee, Outings and League Play. The classic Tudor-style designed clubhouse is open to the public and has a function room to accommodate large events such as birthday’s, retirement parties and weddings.

I had a great morning seeing four weeks of hard work and practice by young learners pay off at the Gannon Golf clinic....

The Lynn Woods Reservation

The Lynn Woods Reservation was founded in 1881, is a 2,200 acre municipal forest park located in Lynn, Massachusetts. The Woods offers over 30 miles of scenic trails for hiking, running, horseback riding, mountain biking (not allowed during the winter), cross-country skiing, and nature walks.

Three active reservoirs provide pretty pond-like scenery among natural forestland, as well as clean water for the City of Lynn. Dungeon Rock is a well-loved underground tunnel with a history of pirate lore and treasure seekers.

The Rose Garden, Houghton Horticultural Garden, and Amphitheater areas provide more formal settings to explore.

Main entrances and parking available to Pennybrook Road and Great Woods Road.
Maps are available below.
