Sweepers will go around large objects and yard waste; in such situations you will have to clean this material yourself. Please encourage your neighbors to do the same and do not create piles in the gutter.
“WHERE NECESSARY, VEHICLES IMPEDING SWEEPING OPERATIONS WILL BE TICKETED OR TOWED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CITY ORDINANCES”
A clean neighborhood increases property values and reduces a source of food for vermin. Remove potential environmental pollution and makes for a safer neighborhood.
Please help us to improve our City environment.
Thank you!

Report National Grid Outages - Updated August 2019
For Electric Outages (800) 465-1212 - For Gas Outages (800) 233-5325 or 911
FOR GAS EMERGENCY'S - If you smell gas anywhere, including in your home, go outside and call (800) 233-5325 or 911 Immediately.
Do not assume that someone else has already reported the emergency. Help us keep your community safe! We consider any of the below a gas emergency:
You smell gas or suspect a gas leak.
There is an abnormally high or low flame or no gas in all your gas appliances.
Gas to an appliance or heating unit cannot be shut off.
There is a continuous flow of water leaking from your gas heating unit or water heater.
Gas pipes are making unusual noises like roaring, hissing or whistling.
You notice dead vegetation that does not have a cause to be there.
You see a white cloud, mist, fog or bubbles in standing water.
There is an odor other than natural gas that is irritating to your eyes, nose and/or throat or someone is exhibiting symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure such as headache, nausea, lethargy, disorientation and combativeness.
As every report of a gas leak is a potentially hazardous situation, we recommend you evacuate the premises along with any family members and pets and wait for our technician to arrive.
DO NOT Under Any Circumstances:
Touch any electrical or light switches, doorbells, phones or anything that could cause a spark such as any appliances or thermostats.
Turn any electrical equipment on or off.
Pull plugs from outlets.
Smoke or light matches.
DOWNED POWER LINES SAFETY - Always use extreme caution near wires and power lines—for your own safety, assume they are live and deadly.
If you see a downed line, keep everyone away and report it to us at 1-800-465-1212 immediately. Repairing downed power lines can be dangerous work, so please drive carefully when you spot our repair crews on the road.
Downed Power Lines - If you see a downed power line, NEVER:
- Touch downed power lines or anything coming in contact with fallen lines
- Walk beneath overhead equipment, lines, or wires near a downed line
- Touch someone who is being electrically shocked
- Handle or cut utility poles
- Burn old poles as firewood—this will expose you to the chemicals used to treat and preserve them

Union Hospital ER Set To Close Sunday - November 3rd Salem, Mass. (October 30, 2019) – North Shore Medical Center (NSMC)
At 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, the NSMC Union Hospital Emergency Department (ED) will close on the Lynn campus. Earlier that same day, a new, expanded Emergency Department will open at NSMC Salem Hospital to ensure that the emergency health needs of the entire community continue to be met.
After November 3, Lynn residents who need emergency care should call 911 or go to the NSMC Salem Hospital Emergency Department at One Dove Avenue in Salem. The entrance to the new Salem ED will be relocated to One Dove Ave., accessible from Jefferson Avenue or via a new access road that cuts through the NSMC Salem Campus between the Highland Ave. and Dove Ave entrances. The new ED is significantly larger and has been completely redesigned to enhance the patient experience.
“These new facilities are designed to ensure that all residents of the North Shore have access to state-of-the-art facilities and care here in the community,” says David J. Roberts, M.D., president of NSMC. “The new ED and expanded facilities provide the incredible level of technology and sub-specialization that hospital patients require today.”
For less acute, urgent care, NSMC will also open an Urgent Care Center in the former Union Hospital Emergency Department on Monday, November 4 at 9 a.m. The Urgent Care Center will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Urgent care is appropriate for conditions such as coughs, minor burns, sprains, rashes and simple fractures.
Other outpatient services currently operating on the Union Hospital Campus including the North Shore Physicians Group medical practice, Imaging Services (including mammography, X-ray, bone density and ultrasound), Outpatient Behavioral Health, Infusion, Wellness, Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab and the medical practices of Drs. Barry Paul and Jacob Karas will remain on the campus.
NSMC announced plans in 2013 to consolidate Salem and Union hospitals and create a single state-of-the-art facility in Salem equipped to meet the acute health care needs of the North Shore community. NSMC recently completed a $207 million expansion in Salem and built a new, larger ED, added private patient rooms and increased capacity for behavioral health care. A new building on the Salem Campus houses the new ED and Pingree Floor of private rooms, while the former Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital has been renovated to accommodate the 120-bed Epstein Center for Behavioral Health. The Pingree Floor and Epstein Center opened in October.
In addition, NSMC is building a 40,000 square foot medical village on the NSMC Union Campus in Lynn that will open in May 2020 and house many of the outpatient services currently provided on the Union Campus.
