Welcome to the Election Commission

The Election Office is responsible for all Voter Registration for the City of Lynn. This includes updating change of address, name, or political party affiliation. We also are responsible for all Nomination Papers (Local and State) as well as Certifying Petitions. The Commission also manages Preparation and Processing of Local, State, and Federal Elections.

The Election Commission conducts the Annual City of Lynn Census. Other duties include processing of Proof of Residence (can only be obtained if you have answered the City Census.)

City of Lynn Political Calendar for 2011

Signatures For Office: Councilor At Large or School Committee
Three hundred fifty (350) signatures Not more than 100 of which shall be from any one Ward*
Signatures For Office: Ward Councilor
One hundred (100) signatures from the Ward*
*You should collect 20% over the amount needed, to cover for non-voters

NOMINATION PAPERS TO BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES ONLY, OR TO THEIR AGENTS APPOINTED IN WRITING. (MGL C. 53, §17)
Nomination Papers will be available on Monday, March 21, 2011

	JULY
Friday, 1st 4 PM	Last Day and Hour to take out Nomination papers (MGL, C. 53§9A)
Tuesday, 5th 4 PM	Last Day and Hour to file Nomination papers (Chapter 19 of the Acts of 2003)
	AUGUST
Thursday, 11th 10 AM	Drawing for ballot positions in Election Office (Room 203, City Hall)
Wednesday, 31st 8 PM	Last day to register to vote for Primary Election (MGL, C.51, §26)
	SEPTEMBER
Tuesday, 20th 7 AM - 8 PM	PRIMARY ELECTION
Monday, 26th 5 PM	Last day and hour to file for Recount (MGL, 54, §135)
Thursday, 29th 10 AM	Drawing for ballot positions in Election Office (Room 203, City Hall)
	OCTOBER
Wednesday, 12th 8 PM	Last day to register to vote for Final Election (MGL, C. 51 §26)
	NOVEMBER
Tuesday, 8th 7 AM - 8 PM	CITY ELECTION
Friday, 18th 5 PM	Last Day and Hour to file petition for Recount (MGL C.54 §135)
